It is hard to stand out in the grainy monochrome, hate-obsessed sea of war metal. Teitanblood's "Death" wasn't my first exposure to the extreme blackened death style that has exploded recently, but it was the first one that really grabbed my attention. Teitanblood is able to create simultaneous feelings of despair and the orgasmic release of rage, thanks in part to a chaotic atmosphere that the reverb-heavy production is awash in. A great example of death metal trading riffs for atmosphere.
